Visit Of Member DT To RTO Karachi – August 4 & 11, 2008

   Member Direct Taxes, Mr. Irfan Nadeem, visited the Regional Tax Office, Karachi on 4th & 11th August, 2008. On 4th August, he meet with the Director General and Commissioners of the Region regarding performance appraisal, administrative matters and PAC cases. The meeting commenced with a detailed presentation regarding past performance of RTO, Karachi – the achievement of the past years target, strategy to achieve current year’s budgetary target and surpassing the target assigned for the month of July 2008. The presentation was followed by honourable Member’s discussion with the DG and Commissioners on various administrative and other issues. After the meeting, a lunch was hosted in the honour of the Member. Later, the Member departed for delivering lecture at NIM, Karachi.

     Member Direct Taxes, Mr. Irfan Nadeem, visited Regional Tax Office, Karachi station again on 11th & 12th of August, 2008 on account of various engagements. On August 11, he attended Post-Budget Discussion hosted by the executive Committee of the ICAP. He was accompanied by the Directors General, Regional Tax Office, Karachi and Large Taxpayers’ Unit during the discussion. He also visited the office of PRAL, Karachi situated at Regional Tax Office, Karachi and personally examined new servers installed at third floor of the building. He was also briefed about the procedure of entering single and multiple challans. The Member met Commissioners of the RTO, Karachi on lunch and informally dilated upon the performance during the month of July.

    On August 12, the General Body of the Income Tax Bar, Karachi Chapter arranged a meeting in which Tax Arrears Settlement Scheme (Direct Taxes) 2008 and Investment Tax Scheme were discussed at length. The members of the bar put forth certain proposals regarding these two schemes, which were followed by a question and answers session. Lunch was hosted by the bar at ground floor of the Regional Tax Office Building. Later in the day, the honourable Member visited premises of Karachi Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
