A graceful ceremony was co-hosted by the Regional
Tax Office, Karachi and Chief Collectorate (South),
Customs on August 08, 2008 at Karachi Gymkhana to
bid farewell to the outgoing Chairman, Federal Board
of Revenue, Mr. Abdullah Yusuf. The event was
attended by Director General, Regional Tax Office,
Karachi, Director General, Large Taxpayers’ Unit,
Karachi, Chief Collector (South), all Commissioners
and Additional Commissioners of Income Tax, and
Collectors and Additional Collectors (Customs, Sales
Tax & Federal Excise). The gathering was anchored by
Mrs. Shaista Abbas, Commissioner Income Tax. It
started with welcome remarks by Mr. Asrar Raouf,
Director General, Regional Tax Office, Karachi who
paid rich tributes to Mr. Abdullah Yusuf in his
decisive role of completely transforming the tax
services structure to a modern, robust and
presentable organization. His address was followed
by the speeches of Chief Collector (South), Mr.
Munir Qureshi, and Director General, Large
Taxpayers’ Unit, Karachi, Malik Bashir Ahmed.
Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Abdullah Yusuf, in his
turn, highlighted the overall performance of the FBR
during his tenure as Chairman and hoped that the
process of reform will continue unabated after the
change of command. Honourable Chairman was presented
plaques by the officers of Income Tax, Customs,
Sales Tax & Central Excise, Karachi. The gathering
ended with the Chairman mingling with the officers
present at the occasion.
A lunch was hosted to bid farewell to the former Member Direct
Taxes, Mr. Usman Khalid Mirza, on August 12, 2008 at
6th Floor, Regional Tax Office, Karachi. It was
attended by the Director General, Regional Tax
Office, Karachi, Commissioners Income Tax and
Collectors, Customs, Sales Tax & Federal Excise. The
Member was presented with a plaque by the Officers
of the Federal Board of Revenue at Karachi station
for his dynamic leadership as Member Direct Taxes.
He was also appreciated for a very encouraging
stance facilitating the field formations to achieve
the historic goal of collection of more than 1
trillion rupees in revenue. |
