Mr. Muhammad Riaz

Member (Customs)

Mr. Mohammad Riaz, a BS-21 officer, is the Member Customs in the FBR Headquarters since July 13, 2012. Having worked as Commercial Counsellor Paris (1995-99), Counsel General Istanbul (2002-2006) and subsequently as Director General, Prime Minister’s Secretariat and Director General Customs Intelligence/Investigation, he brings vast and diversified experience to his present assignment.

Mr. Riaz holds Master’s degrees in Development Economics from Williams College, Massachusetts USA and Defence Strategic Studies from National Defence University, Islamabad.

Pakistan Customs

Introduction

Pakistan Customs is the guardian of Pakistan borders against movement of contra band goods and is facilitator of bona fide trade . It provides a major source of revenue to the Government of Pakistan in the form of taxes levied on the goods traded across the borders. It also helps to protect the domestic industry, discourage consumptions of luxury goods and stimulate development in the under -developed areas.
