FACILITIES

INTERACTIVE CLASS ROOMS

DGTR has four spacious air-conditioned class rooms all the class rooms are equipped with modern facilities which include audio-visual facilities, white boards, rostrum and sound system. Each class room has forty sitting capacity. There are two tea bars adjoined with the class rooms.

COMPUTER LABS

Computer labs have been separately provided to familiarize the officers of the department with the use of computers. computers have been provided for the use of participants along with audio visual aids which form part of other available facilities. The Computer Labs. are being looked after by an efficient team of computer professionals.

AUDITORIUM

DGTR has a centrally air-conditioned auditorium equipped with latest public address system and capacity of 50 seats. Arrangements for video recording of all meetings and conferences are also available to the different Collectorate /Directorate of organization for holding seminars, workshops and symposia on mutual understanding.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CENTER

21st century is an era of information technology no organization and Government department can work efficiently without focusing on I.T. DGTR Karachi is providing services to the officials of Customs, Excise and Sales Tax to train them in the field of I.T. In this regard DGTR Karachi is performing an effective role by conducting number of courses/workshops for the beginners and professionals of the Organization.
DGTR Karachi is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art computer laboratories with Pentium-IV & III Computers, and Multimedia Projectors. Towards the establishment of paperless office environment.
DGTR Karachi has established a Local Area Network. Around 70 workstations are connected with a high performance dedicated Server. A high speed Internet connection of 128 kbps has been arranged for Intranet/Proxy setup. Internet facility is also available for each workstation. All faculty/staff members, course participants, Library staff members are also using this facility from their desks.
DGTR Karachi has recently proposed to establish two state-of-the-art computer labs equipped with the latest Pentium IV Computers, all connected to a high speed LAN. Participants at the DGTR utilize the Computer lab, which also have been provided Pentium IV computers. All computers will connect to DSL Internet lines and the Lab will open till late hours. Following courses are being conducted: Course in Information Communication Technology range from beginners to Intermediate, Windows XP, Internet, Hardware & Data Communication/Networking Concepts, MS-Access, Multimedia Presentation, MS WORD XP, MS EXCEL XPMS POWERPOINT XP, Management Information System and Different Organization related Software.

FURNISHED LIBRARY

DGTR has fully air-conditioned specialized library on Administration and Development, It has approximately 25,000 books, on Public Administration, Management, Economics, Islam and Computer Sciences. Large number of Government publications, Reports and Professional Journals are also included in its collection. The specialty of library is current information about various subjects in the form of computerized indexing of Newspaper articles and professional Journals. More than 26000 articles are present in our database from 1991 on more than 80 subjects. Internet facility is available. Computerization of the library is underway. The Library is headed by a professional Research Librarian and assisted by professional staff. GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS The library has a historical collection of regular publications issued by different organs of the United Nations including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, UNCTAD, WTO, ESCAP, FAO, etc. Besides a large number of research reports, analyses, surveys, staff papers, working papers, etc. issued by these agencies under different programmes, the library has complete and updated records of the following periodic publications of these bodies:

United Nations Publications The library has a historical collection of regular publications issued by different organs of the United Nations including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, UNCTAD, WTO, ESCAP, FAO, etc. Besides a large number of research reports, analyses, surveys, staff papers, working papers, etc. issued by these agencies under different programmes, the library has complete and updated records of the following periodic publications of these bodies. Rules and Regulations

  • No material shall be taken away from the premises without the prior permission of the Librarian.
  • Books shall not be transferred from one person to another.
  • Library material will not be issued to borrowers on the basis of request made on the telephone.
  • Reference books, term papers, periodicals and press clipping folders will not be issued
  • Books must be returned by the library members within two weeks of issuance.
  • Books will be issued to faculty members and the staff of the institute for a period of two months. Reminders will be issued if these books are not returned within due time. The case for the reimbursement of the cost of the books will be sent to the account branch after one week of issuing of the final reminder.
  • Faculty and staff members will return all the books issued to them before proceeding on leave or abroad for training.
  • All the participants of courses are entitled to borrow books for two weeks. However, they must return the books before leaving the institute. Otherwise, clearance/course certificates will not be given to them. Course coordinator will cooperate with library in getting back books from the participants.

MOSQUE

A beautiful Mosque is situated at first floor of DGTR, beside JUMMA pray regular prays are being offered in this mosque.
