Collectorate of Customs Lahore

Collectorate of Customs Lahore was established on 15-07-1947. Initially the jurisdiction of Collectorate of Central Excise and Land Customs extended over to the provinces of Punjab & NWFP. In the year 1973 the areas of NWFP & Punjab (upto Jehlum) were allocated to the newly created Collectorate of Central Excise and Land Customs, Peshawar. The jurisdiction of Lahore Collectorate was restricted to the province of the Punjab excluding Rawalpindi Division.
The Collectorate of Central Excise & Land Customs was divided into two Collectorate in the year 1986 i.e. Collectorate of Customs Lahore & Collectorate of Central Excise Lahore. Both had the jurisdiction over the Punjab excluding Rawalpindi Division.
In the year 1990 another Collectorate was created by bifurcating the Collectorate of Customs Lahore into two Collectorates namely, Collectorate of Customs, Lahore and Collectorate of Customs Multan. The jurisdiction of Collectorate of Customs Lahore was then restricted to Lahore and Gujranwala Administrative Divisions. In 1994 the Collectorate of Customs Lahore was further divided into two Collectorates namely Collectorate of Customs Lahore having jurisdiction over Lahore division and Collectorate of Customs Gujranwala. Presently this Collectorate controls areas in the Administrative division of Lahore only.

Dryport Moghalpura Lahore
 

Lahore Dryport was established on 7/1973. It was declared as custom port vide SRO1250(I)/73 dated 24th August, 1973. Originally, Dryport Moghalpura Lahore was declared as Land Customs Station and the goods imported into and exported from this port were mainly for India and Pakistan. In other words it was Land Customs Station for commercial goods imported from India and exported to India. Subsequently with development of trade and Industry and as a result of closure of trade with India after 1965 war and in view of difficulties faced by the local traders of Punjab, the Land Customs Station of Moghalpura Lahore was designated as Drydock i.e. inland port for importation and exportation of goods brought through the sea routes and it was a port created with transhipment facilities. Initially transhipment was carried out only by Railway but subsequently this facility was extended to National Logistic Cell of Pakistan Army and further to private bonded carriers. The custodian of the imported and exported goods is Pakistan Railways.

Railway Station Lahore


Customs Station at Railway Station Lahore is working since March, 1948. Originally it consisted of two parts i.e. Plate form No.1 and T-10. The former earlier was meant for traffic passengers with slight importation of commercial goods mainly fresh and perishable commodities and T-10 was exclusively cargo station for importation and exportation of goods to India. Apart from this Platform No.5 was specified for Customs in connection with exports. However the passenger traffic from Platform No.1 was discontinued from May 1996 when Wagha Railway Station was notified an independent Station for traffic. Railway station was renotified as custom station vide SRO 310(I)/96 dated 2nd May, 1996. The custodian of the imported and exported goods is Pakistan Railways.

Railway Station Wagha

 

Railway station wagha was declared as Customs station for passenger station vide Notification SRO No. 310(I)/96 dated 22nd May, 1996 .

Check Post Wagha (Land Route)
 

This is in existence since 1947 for the passenger traffic travelling by road and also it is transit station for fresh fruit exported to India from Afghanistan. It was renotified as Custom station vide Notification No. SRO 310(I)/96 dated 22nd May, 1996.

Air Fright Unit Lahore
 

AFU was established with the creation of Collectorate of Central Excise & Land Custom Lahore. It was renotified as Customs Airport vide notification No. SRO 101(I)/83 dated 12-02-1983 the Custom formalities which are mainly performed are related to passenger traffic, for treatment of the goods imported into and exported from Pakistan with the division of AFU (Import and export un accompanied baggage etc.

Foreign Post Office (GPO)


The formation of Postal Appraising Department was formally declared an independent unit in March, 1965. Prior to this, it was a branch of the GPO operating under the formation of Chief Post Master, Subsequently in the year 1982, the postal department upgraded its standard by way of declaring the post of Superintendent of the Postal Department to Grade-17 as against earlier Grade-16. The formation of the office of the Superintendent Foreign Post was re-designated as office of the Deputy Controller Foreign Post, Lahore in the year 1993.

Container Freight Station (Thokar Niaz Baig)
 

The Dryport is situated at Multan Road adjacent to Thokar Niaz Baig Lahore and was declared Customs port vide Notification No. SRO 1128(I)/88 dated 12th December, 1988. The goods transported by the National Logistic Cell, imported or exported are dealt with at CFS. The Custodian of the imported and exported goods is National Logistic Cell Pakistan Army.
